Flying high

Wow!
Its been three years since that hawk landed on my front lawn.
A lot has happened since then, daughters got married, I went from super-bikes to a Gold-Wing, My best friend Roger Kirschbaum died, I quit my job as a photojournalist after 25 years, I bought the farm my wife and I started looking at right around the time that bird paid me a visit.
I often say that the choices we make in life open a path for us to go one way just as surly as another path closes up. In order to obtain this 40 acre homestead that I see as the key to the new chapter in my life, I had to let the other life I was living die. There were no guaranties that I would be able to get here, in fact there are no guaranties it will succeed at all, but Im sure going to give it my best shot.
I dont know if that bird portended the changes coming back then, but I sure got a sky full of them out here catching thermals off the Missouri river valley, and that makes my heart sing.

"One heart, one love, one life you got ta do what you should."
